International investment cooperation
On April 12, an international conference on “Accelerating economic reforms and increasing the investment attractiveness of the country’s regions: problems and solutions” was held in Tashkent.
The event, organized by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme, was attended by senators and deputies, heads of ministries and departments, free economic zones, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Uzbekistan, international financial institutions, companies and corporations, domestic and foreign experts from more than 30 countries.
Main factors of development of business environment in the country’s regions, attracting investments, increasing confidence in financial structures, obstacles and problems arising along this path, as well as their elimination were discussed at the conference.
Improving the investment climate requires identifying problems hindering it. For this purpose, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the United Nations Development Programme, conducted a survey on business conditions in the context of regions with participation of local authorities, representatives of free and small industrial zones, business people. Within the framework of the conference, a presentation of the results of the survey was held.
Special attention was paid to issues of further development of engineering, communication, road and transport infrastructure, introduction of a modern system of “One Window” services, expansion of guarantees and benefits for foreign investors and enterprises with foreign capital and others.
Following the conference, recommendations were developed on improvement of business environment in Uzbekistan, addressing current problems, and taking necessary measures on attracting foreign investors.
